Words Linger

Words fall heavy on a heart
like a stone, I would rather be struck.
Physical pain seems to dissolve
as each mark fades to a purple hue.
Emotionally the pain lingers a lifetime.

  1. Words linger. Such a fitting title for this.

They say sticks and stones may break the bones, and words can't hurt you, but that is a lie.

In fact, the most painful things in the world can be words.

Because you can't UN-Say them. You can't wash them away or heal them with a physical medicine.

They get stuck to your heart and all inside your head.

Words can be a poison when used by the right person in the wrong way.

    Such a beautiful summation you've written here~

    I loved this.

    Thanks for sharing.

  7. So true. The emotional wounds stick around much longer than any bruise.
