Hard Request

"You wanted brutal honesty?
Hard request.
I'll do my best.
How do I feel about you now?
Memories of us, I cringe inside.
Imagine a dentist filling a tooth
without numbing it first."

  1. This is going to hit home for many readers. Nicely done, Donetta. I really like how you've uniquely worded the last sentence. :))

    1. Thank you. I was trying to think of something that wasn't heard too often. Like the saying 'tooth and nail'.

    1. lol Draug. Honestly it's the only thing I could think of that didn't sound cliche. The saying 'tooth and nail' popped in my head. I tried to add fingernails scratching a chalkboard but couldn't do it in 33 words. It is a horrible image. I hate hearing the drill the times I've had a filling put in, and I was very much numb. :)

  5. Yes indeed, a relationship like that is definitely come to an end.

  6. Oh, yes! This is a perfect representation of post relationship harsh feelings. I actually cringed at the end. Who hasn't been there?

I like how the voice isn't bitter so much as bitchy--as if he didn't get the better of her, she just finally realized she deserves better than him. Buh-bye!

    Well done! :)
