2000 - Easter

I study us
our last Easter.
Singing in church.
Baking a bunny cake.
All I can do is stare.
I wasn't meant to stop
time from moving forward.
I am here to watch.

    1. It would be great. Then I guess if we done the slightest thing different, it could change the course of time. :)

  2. This reminds me of the play, Our Town. I like this pathos.

    1. The year my granny passed away, one of my favorite memories that year, was of us baking a cake and making a bunny out of it. Lots of laughing about my baking skills. ha. Thank you.

  4. Beautiful lines! Sad that time cannot stay in the palm like lines of fate. "I am here to watch" is a profound line.

  8. This is sad, but touching. I love that last line. "I am here to watch." Of course, we can't stop time, but we can replay the moments over and over so sometimes it feels like we can.

    1. That is very true. Sometimes moments just get caught in a time warp in our minds.

  9. I agree completely with both the comment about "Our Town" and the comment about letting children grow up. Plaintive writing that is so moving.

  10. I am here to watch - such a great line because it can go so many ways. I have her sitting there, time stopped (oops!) and her trying to urge time forward again so she can watch.
