Cold Alarm

Tossing, restless,
counting sheep, fluffiness
jumping one by one.
Hear the clock ticking
seconds, lost in my head.

Thoughts slam
around in my mind.
Desperately holding focus
as I inhale deep, exhale slowly.
Cool night breeze
sashays through curtains.

Alarm cold, unwelcomed.

  1. Alarms always go off way too early, don't they? This was me last night (without the sheep - I gave that up a long time ago!).

  3. Love this: "Thoughts slam around in my head." That captures the insomnia I get occasionally all too well.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. It does seem to feel that way at times. Lack of sleep make even thoughts seem rough and rude.

    1. It seems to be an ongoing problem for me. I try meditation, yoga, warm green tea, and so far I haven't found one thing that actually works. Thanks for stopping by.

  11. Sleep is so very valuable these days. I once threw an alarm clock against the wall in my sleep. It was justifiable homicide.

    1. lol. I am one of those people that have to place the alarm clock away from the bed so I actually get up and turn it off. I have thrown a few things at it, but missed. Thanks for stopping by.
